This lawyer is very off putting. We went in for a consultation and before hearing the whole story, he decided that we could not afford him and refered us to legal aid. We had the money ready to spend for his retainer and hourly rate. His retainer is slightly high for family legal help. If he would have not been so quick to judge a situation versus actually helping us he would have gotten a better reveiw. He did not even explain to us what he would be able to do or achieve after we paid his retainer fee

Tom Kates was a comforting presence during a difficult time. His wisdom, empathy and kindness set him far above other attorneys I've worked with in the past. Quite literally one of the nicest people I've ever met. He won't get worked up and keeps you steady when things are high pressure. I'm so grateful it's hard to put into words. If you are looking for no-nonsense, calm, and collected then you've found the right person.
